Mildred C. Nusbaum,
95, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday, September 28, 2000, at the Country
View Estate Care Home in Seneca. She had been a resident there since
February of 1996.
She was born May 6, 1905, in Pawnee County, Nebraska, the daughter of
Rudolph and Rosine Boehmer Siske. She grew up on the family farm, attended
Gravel High, a rural grade school south of Pawnee City, Nebraska, and
graduated from the Pawnee City High School in 1923.
On August 25, 1931, she married D.I. "Dutch" Nusbaum
at Frieden's Church north of Bern, KS. He died July 2, 1985.They lived
in Bern, and from 1934 through 1950 they operated Nusbaum's Produce.
They bought and sold cream, eggs and chickens which were sold mostly
to the Falls City Creamery. In 1953 they moved to Prairie Village, Kansas
where Mildred worked at the Belinger Elementary School as the head cook
in the lunch program for nine years. She also had worked at a bakery.
In 1971 they retired and moved to Seneca.
She was a member of the Bern United Methodist
Church at Bern, Kansas, and the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild
in Seneca.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday at the
United Methodist Church at Bern. She will lie in state at the church
for one hour preceding the services. The burial will be in the Bern
Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 7 to 8 P.M. Friday at the
Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where Mrs. Nusbaum will lie in state after
8:30 A.M. Friday.
Memorials may be given for the Bern United
Methodist Church or the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital.
