A. "Peg" Niehues
Dolores A. “Peg” Niehues, 86, of Goff, KS, died Wednesday,
January 11, 2006, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She
was born September 27, 1919, on a farm north of Centralia, the daughter
of Henry A. and Clara Reinecke Grollmes. Her mother died in a flu epidemic
when she was about two years old. She grew up on the farm and attended
Sherman School near her home. She did domestic work and helped on the
family farm before her marriage
On May 4, 1943 she married Albert H. Niehues
at St. Bede’s Church. They lived on a farm east of Kelly until
the spring of 1944 when they moved to their farm southeast of Kelly.
They celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. She took
care of her husband, Albert, for many years while he was in ill health.
He preceded her in death on February 16, 2005.
She was a member of St. Bede’s Church
and the Altar Society at the Church. Peg enjoyed gardening, flowers,
sewing, baking, and collecting recipes.
Survivors are five sons, Glen, of Wetmore,
Wayne, Max, Marvin, and Thomas, all of Goff; two daughters, Mary Koch
of Centralia and Doris Haug of Vermillion; 36 grandchildren; and 39
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother,
Andrew Grollmes, and four sisters, Elizabeth Graney, Mary Smith, Katherine
Duryea, and Leona “Bobbie” Grollmes.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30
A.M. Saturday at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. Burial will be in
the church cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home
in Seneca on Friday at 2 and 7 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be given for
St. Bede’s Cemetery and sent in care of the family.
