A. Newton
Jean A. Newton, 72, of Kansas City, MO, died Tuesday, December 20,
2005, at Research Hospital in Kansas City.
She
was born January 9, 1933 at Axtell, KS, the daughter of Eugene J. and
Agatha Shaughnessy Madden. They lived in Axtell where she attended St.
Michael’s School. After her father died on June 14, 1944, she
moved with her mother to Seneca where she graduated from Sts. Peter
& Paul High School in 1951. In 1954 the family moved to Kansas City,
MO. Later she was employed by the Dunham Bus Service as a monitor.
She was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle
Church in Grandview, MO.
Jean’s hobbies were sewing and collecting
antiques.
Survivors are three sons, Harold Newton,
Harrisonville, MO, Craig Newton, Jr., Lynn Valley, KS, and Tim Nickerson,
Lowry City, MO; two daughters, Eugenie Tyburski, Epharta, PA and Renee
Newton, Berwick, PA; two sisters, Patricia Fields, Lee Summit, MO and
Vera Gross, Kansas City, MO; and seven grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded
in death by a sister, Delores Madden.
The mass of Christian burial will be offered
at 11 A.M. Monday, December 26 at St. Michael’s Church at Axtell.
She will lie in state at the church for an hour preceding the mass.
The rosary will also be prayed at the church preceding the mass.
Memorial contributions may be given for
the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the family.
