Mary K. Meyer

Mary K. Becker Meyer, 94, of Centralia, KS, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Crestview Manor in Seneca.
      Mary was born November 24, 1914 at Coal Creek, daughter of Howard and Katie Stegeman Becker.  She attended School at Collage Hill School at Coal Creek.  After graduating from the 8th grade, she worked in Onaga as a housekeeper.
     She married Alfonse Meyer on October 4, 1933 at St. Patrick’s Church in Coal Creek.  He preceded her in death on August 12, 1996.
      Mary worked for Dr. R.E. Capsey and for Hayes Funeral Home in Centralia for several years.  She also worked as a caregiver for many home-bound. 
      She is survived by her four children, Leo B. (Teresa) Meyer of Seneca, Patricia (Dennis) Kirlin of Council Bluffs, Catherine (Ralph) Ward of Onaga, and Sharon (Bob) Fritch of Meriden; two sisters, Luella Freil of Topeka and Rose Ida Bergman of Onaga; sister-in-laws, Elsie Becker of Topeka and Cordulla Becker of Centralia; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 
      She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Ed and Henry Becker.
      A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Sunday, May 31, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday, June 1, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the Centralia City Cemetery.
      Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and sent in care of the family.
