Lizzol
Vera Lizzol, 80, Seneca, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Crestview
Manor care home, in Seneca.
She was born August 19, 1925, in New York City, the daughter of William
and Emilia Mazurkiewicz Wakuluk. She grew up in Manhattan and attended
public schools there. Later the family moved to the Bronx. Vera learned
to speak Russian from her family, her father being Russian and her mother
Polish.
On October 26, 1946, she married Steven
Lizzol in the Bronx. They lived there for 15 years before moving to
Queens. In April of 1980, they moved to Seneca. Her husband died July
26, 1984. They had a long and wonderful marriage and were very proud
of their sons.
A son, Steven Lizzol, Jr., preceded her in
death on February 18, 2002.
For several years, Vera worked with Bea
Lechner at her day care center in Seneca, where she enjoyed helping
with children. Vera was known as a friendly, cheerful person.
She was a member of the Seneca Memorial
Post #7458 of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Jerome
Catholic Church in the Bronx. Vera loved to bowl, play bingo, and enjoyed
going to the casinos.
She is survived by a son, Matthew of Fort
Dodge, IA; a daughter-in-law, Deanna “Dee” Lizzol of Seneca;
a brother, Willliam Wakuluk of Lake Ariel, PA; and 5 grandchildren.
Besides her husband and son, she was preceded
in death by two sisters, Helen and Olga.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8
PM Wednesday, June 28, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral service
will be 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Seneca
City Cemetery.
Memorials may be given for a fund to be designated
later, and sent in care of the family.
