"Ray" Kramer
Raymond C. “Ray” Kramer, 84, of Seneca, died early morning
April 18, 2007 at Life Care Center in Seneca.
He was born on September 18, 1922 on a farm east of Seneca, the son
of Joseph B. and Frances Holthaus Kramer. He attended Sts. Peter &
Paul School, graduating from high school in 1940. On November 13, 1942,
he was inducted into the Army Air Corp and served until December 1,
1945. After his discharge, Ray enrolled at Kansas State University and
graduated with a BS in Agriculture.
On June 14, 1952, he married Rita Kunzman
in Kansas City, MO. The couple lived in Seneca. He worked as an independent
fertilizer application contractor for area farmers and was also an agriculture
instructor for a government extension agency until 1954, when he started
the Farm Service and Supply Store with Clyde Jones. He sold his half
of the business to Clyde in 1972. For a short time, he worked for Winterscheidt
Milling, until he decided to go into business for himself again. In
1972, he opened R & R Clothing on Main Street in Seneca and ran
the business for 15 years, before retiring in 1987.
Ray was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul
Church, the St. Joseph Society, the Knights of Columbus #1769, and the
Earle W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion, all in Seneca. He enjoyed
playing cards and working with horses.
Survivors are his wife, Rita, of the home; two
sons, Larry of Shawnee, KS and Charlie of Sabetha; two brothers, Wilbur
of Lawrence, and James of Lincoln, NE; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary
on May 21, 1955; three sisters, Mary Ann Kramer, Mercedes Waller and
Mildred McCaffrey; and two brothers, Victor B. and Arthur J.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10
AM Friday April 20, 2007 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. Burial
will be at the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM
on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorial contributions may be given for
the Sts. Peter and Paul School Building Fund, and sent in care of the
family.
