Jeanette King
Louise Jeanette
King, 84, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Oneida, KS, died Friday, April
4, 2003, at Brewster Place in Topeka.
She
was born September 4, 1918, on a farm south of Oneida, KS, the daughter
of Jacob S. and Nora Hamler Anderson. She spent her early life in the
Oneida and Sabetha communities and graduated from Oneida High School
in 1936. At 50 years of age, she enrolled in the Atchison Public School
of Practical Nursing, graduating valedictorian of her class and become
a Licensed Practical Nurse. After graduating she moved to Topeka where
she worked for the Topeka-Shawnee County Health Department for 14 years
and at the Colmery-O’Neil Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in
Topeka for 11 years. After her retirement in January of 1993, Jeanette
continued to work as a private nurse until she was 80 years old.
Jeanette married Otis Kooser in 1936,
having two children. They were divorced. She later married Lynn King
in 1953 and had her third child. This marriage was also dissolved by
divorce.
Survivors are a daughter, Edith Neiman
of Santa Monica, CA; two sons, Kenneth Kooser of Huntsville, TX, and
David Lynn King of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Floy Frances,
and her two brothers, Lynn and Ralph “Andy” Anderson.
There will be a memorial service at 2
P.M. on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the United Methodist Church, Oneida,
KS, followed by inurnment in the Oneida Cemetery.
