Sharon A. Johnson,
54, of Centralia, Kansas, died Friday, October 19, 2001, at the home
of her daughter, Lisa Honeyman, in Seneca, Kansas. She had cancer and
had been ill since last February.
She
was born July 26, 1947, in Seneca, the daughter of Walter "Nub"
and Dorothy Wright Bryan, and grew up on a farm southwest of Centralia.
She attended grade school at Pleasant Hill School #10 Rural near her
farm home. The family moved into Centralia in 1959, and she graduated
from Centralia High School in 1965.
On June 5, 1965 she married Elton McLaughlin
at Centralia. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska and Corning, Kansas. They
were later divorced. Sharon was employed by Campbell Soup Company at
Tecumseh, Nebraska, for about two years. On August 8, 1969, she married
John Johnson. They lived in Omaha. He died December 4, 1970. Sharon
returned to Tecumseh in 1976 and married Steve Johnson on December 22,
1976, at Tecumseh. They moved to Centralia in 1979 where she helped
her husband drive a truck for Bennett Trucking, Preferred Transportation,
out of Strong City, KS. She stopped trucking in December of 2000 to
take care of her mother who was ill.
She was a member of the First Congregational
United Church of Christ in Centralia.
Survivors are two sons, James Johnson
and Jason Johnson, both of Centralia; a daughter, Lisa Honeyman of Seneca;
a sister, Joyce Vance of Onaga, KS; and five grandchildren.
Besides her husband John Johnson, she
was preceded in death by a son, John R. Johnson, on July 2, 1991; her
father, Walter Bryan, on February 4, 1994; and her mother, Dorothy Bryan,
on January 9, 2001.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday
at the United Methodist Church in Centralia. The family will meet with
friends on Sunday from 6:30 to 8 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery in Centralia.
Memorials may be given for the American
Cancer Society or the Midland Hospice in Topeka and sent in care of
the family.
