Anna G. Heinen,
88, of Seneca, Kansas, died Sunday, December 24, 2000, at Crestview
Manor Care Home in Seneca. She had been a resident there since June
of this year.
She was born May 16, 1912, on a farm east of
Kelly, Kansas, the daughter of Anton and Gertrude Lierz Kohake. She
attended Maple Shade Country School and St. Bede's School and helped
on the family farm. Anna's mother died when she was 16 and Anna, the
oldest and only girl, helped care for and raise her seven brothers.
On April 8, 1931, she married Lambert Heinen at St.
Bede's Church at Kelly. They lived and farmed northeast of Kelly until
February of 1967 when they moved to Seneca. Her husband, Lambert died
on February 1, 1968. Anna then worked as a cook at Crestview Manor in
Seneca from 1970 until 1979.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church
and St. Ann's Altar Society, and the Quilting Group all at Seneca.
Survivors are four sons, Donald Heinen of Kennewick,
Washington, Melvin Heinen of Seneca, Verness Heinen of Tonganoxie, Kansas,
and Mark Heinen of Basehor, Kansas; a daughter, Lola Otting of Bonner
Springs, Kansas; a brother, John Kohake of Shawnee, Kansas; 24 grandchildren
and 46 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death
by a son, Kenneth Heinen on September 13, 1998, a granddaughter Cindy
Heinen on May 4, 1984, and six brothers, Ernest Kohake, Carl Kohake,
Anthony Kohake, Cyril Kohake, George Kohake, and Albert Kohake.
The mass of Christian burial will be offered
at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The
burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at
the Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2 P.M. by St. Ann's Altar Society.
A vigil prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. Tuesday by the parish.
Memorials may be given for Sts Peter & Paul
School and sent in care of the family.
