
Helen
M. Heiman
Helen M. Heiman, 90, of Baileyville, died late Tuesday evening, January
2, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Seneca.
She
was born February 9, 1916, on a farm south east of Seneca, the daughter
of Peter and Mary Kramer Lierz and one of 11 children. She attended
the rural Baileyville School and helped on the family farm. Following
her schooling, Helen helped other families in the area doing domestic
work and child care.
On April 3, 1940, she married Joseph F.
Heiman at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. They lived and farmed
3/4-mile south of Baileyville. Her husband, Joe, preceded her in death
on June 10, 1972. She was also preceded in death by two children, an
infant daughter Phyllis and a son, Harold, 13 years old.
Her memberships include Sacred Heart Church,
the altar society at the church, the Benedictine Oblates, and the quilters
at the church. Helen was a homemaker and a kind and thoughtful person.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking, sports, being with her family,
and playing cards.
Survivors are three sons, Maurice, Carol
Lee, and Melvin Heiman, all of Baileyville; a daughter, Beverly Anderson,
of Topeka; a brother, Raymond Lierz, of Baileyville; and nine grandchildren.
Besides her husband and two children,
she was preceded in death by six brothers, Leo, Paul, Vincent, Sylvester,
Joe, and Mathias "Matt" or "Ted" Lierz; and three
sisters, Clara Broxterman, Bertha Heiman, and Mary Mulryan.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday
at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church at Baileyville. Burial will be in the
church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM Thursday at the
Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart
Church, and sent in care of the family.
