LeRoy A. “Buss”
Gordon, 77, Seneca, KS, died Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Nemaha
Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
He
was born July 3, 1927, on a farm northwest of Washington, KS, the son
of Lesslie and Leona Carpenter Gordon. He was one of 12 children. He
attended school in Washington and worked there before enlisting in the
U.S. Army in 1949, serving in Germany. After his discharge in 1952,
he returned to Washington and did construction work for many years with
Hall Brothers Construction, building highways and bridges. Later he
worked for the city of Marysville and retired as the street foreman
in 1988.
He was married to Lois Sanders DePoortere
on September 26, 1981 at Beatrice, NE. They lived in Marysville until
his retirement and moved to Seneca in 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion
in Lynn, KS.
Survivors are his wife, Lois; a step-son,
Roger Fuller, Kansas City, MO; two step-daughters, Roberta Vaughn, Lathrop,
MO and Sue Macasio, Seneca; two daughters, Sharon Gordon, Memphis, TN,
and Tammy Galloway, Lawrence, KS; a brother, Raymond “Bud”
Gordon, Morrowville, KS; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 1 P.M. Friday
at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. There will be an inurnment service
at 3 P.M. Friday following the funeral at the Morrowville Cemetery in
Morrowville, KS, with military honors provided by a U.S. Army detail
from Fort Riley.
Memorials may be given for the donor's choice
and sent in care of the family.
