Julia Ann Nordus Glissman

Julia Ann Nordhus Glissman, 50, of Kelly, KS died early Tuesday, January 26, 2010, of cancer at her home.
     She was born May 11, 1959, in Seneca, the daughter of John and Bernice Haug Nordhus. She attended Sts. Peter & Paul School in Seneca, and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1978.
     On April 21, 1979, she married David Glissman at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly.
     After her children were enrolled in school, she began working for Seneca Wholesale and Alpha Taxidermy; Julie later took a position as a teller for the Corning First National Bank, retiring in 2009 due to her health.
    Julie was a member of St. Bede’s Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church. She was an active member of the Corning Legion Auxiliary.  She followed her children in their sports and enjoyed attending their many games.  Julie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Her greatest joys came from watching her children grow into successful, happy adults and participating in the many activities and events of her family.  Julie enjoyed sewing, doing various crafts, and the art of taxidermy.
     She was preceded in death by her sister Jane Nordhus in 1994.
     Julie will be missed by many friends and by her family who were inspired by the grace by which she lived her last days.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 30 years; five children, Calvin Glissman of Denver, CO, Shanna Jackson of Topeka, Cindy (and husband Lee) Sudbeck of Olathe, Stacy (and husband Andy) Enneking of Omaha, NE, and Clyde Glissman of the home; four grandchildren, Jordan and Lauren Jackson and Colton and Anna Sudbeck; her parents; her brothers,  Robert, Bill and John Nordhus, all of Seneca, Tom Nordhus of Denver, CO, and Jerry Nordhus of Bern; and her sisters, Mary Lynn Stephens of Wichita, Diane Schultejans of Corning, Sharon Shumaker of Wetmore, Deb Hermesch and Kathleen Nolte, both of Seneca.
     The rosaries will be held at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly on Thursday, January 28, at 2 & 7 PM, conducted by Lauer Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Friday, January 29, at  St. Bede’s Church.  Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Seneca.
     Memorial contributions may be left in Julie’s memory to the KU Cancer Center and Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, sent in care of the family.
