Elizabeth Fangman |
Elizabeth Fangman, 93, of Seneca, Kansas died late
Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca.
She had been a resident there since October 7, 1997.
She
was born October 12, 1906, on a farm northeast of Seneca, Kansas the
daughter of Clarence and Johanna Hurley Morton. She attended at St.
Mary's School in St. Benedict, and boarded there with the sisters
due to the difficult traveling conditions in those times. Elizabeth
graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School in Seneca in 1926 and
began work as a sales lady at the Florence Ann Shoppe selling women's
clothing.
She married Carl Fangman on August
27, 1927, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Her husband, Carl,
died June 16, 1972. They lived on the Frank Fangman farm west of Seneca
for three years before purchasing their farm just west of Seneca.
In 1965 they retired and moved into Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul
Church, St. Ann's Altar Society at the church, the Loyal Christian
Benevolent Association, and the Nemaha County Historical Society all
at Seneca.
Survivors are a son, James Fangman
of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, a daughter, Myrtle L. Huerter of Manhattan,
Kansas; and five grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded
in death by a son, Carlton "Buzz" Fangman on November 24, 1995, and
a daughter, Phyllis J. Fangman on April 6, 2000.
The mass of Christian burial will be
10:30 A.M. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The
burial will be in the church cemetery.
A vigil prayer service will be conducted
at 7 P.M. Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca where she will
lie in state after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be given
for Sts. Peter & Paul School and sent in care of the family. |
