
Bernard
F. Engelken
Bernard F. Engelken, 80, of Seneca, died Sunday morning, October 29,
2006, at his home.
He was born February 26, 1926, on a farm north of St. Benedict, the
son of Henry J. and Johanna Bergman Engelken. He attended St. Mary’s
School at St. Benedict. Later he went on the harvest with his dad. For
several years he worked for the Koelzer Lumber Yard in Seneca. He had
lived in his Terrace Heights Apartment for quite a few years and knew
a lot of people. Bernie was friendly and liked visiting with family,
neighbors, and people in general. He could be seen around town riding
his “bike”. He also enjoyed refinishing antiques.
Bernie was a member of Sts. Peter &
Paul Church and the St. Joseph Society at the church.
Survivors are a brother, Kenneth Engelken
of Topeka, and two sisters, Florence Pearson of Seneca and Mary Ann
Armstrong of David City, NE.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in
death by three brothers, Alfred Engelken on May 17, 1996, Cletus Engelken
on January 27, 1983, and Aloysius H. “Wishy” Engelken on
January 11, 2004; and two sisters Rosalita Mace on February 26, 1956
and Leona Koelzer.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM
Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be
in the church cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Monday at
the Lauer Funeral Home.
