Iva L. Weyer Crandall,
90, of Seneca, KS, died Wednesday, September 27, at Crest View Manor
in Seneca. She had been a resident there since June 25, 1998.
She was born February 28, 1910, at Kelly, KS, the daughter of Roy and
Lizzie Sherrer Cox. Iva graduated from Centralia High School. She was
married to Lester Weyer at Seneca on 1927. They lived at Seneca. He
died November 16, 1941. She married Frank Crandall on December 31, 1946
at Seneca. He died April 17, 1978. She was also preceded in death by
a daughter, Doris Arlene Weyer on May 23, 1935, and a son Robert Dean
Weyer on August 21, 1997.
Iva owned a gas station in Baileyville with her husband,
Lester Weyer, and later owned two laundromats with her husband, Frank
Crandall. She was Clerk of the District Court at the Nemaha County Courthouse
for several years. In 1955 she began work in the Nemaha County Clerk's
Office and served as the Nemaha County Clerk from 1961 until her retirement
in 1971.
Iva was a member of the United Methodist Church,
the United Methodist Women, and the Quilting Group at the church in
Seneca. She was a member of the Republican political party. She enjoyed
sports with her son, Robert and her grandchildren. She loved to sew,
crochet, knit, quilt, do crafts, and garden.
Survivors are three brothers, Marvin Cox of Madison,
MO; Melvin Cox of Corning, KS; Tom Cox of Wichita, KS; two sisters,
Edith Haug of Seneca, KS, and Gladys Walters of Lawrence, KS; two grandsons,
and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, daughter, and son, she was
preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Schmidt and Erma Vernon.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the
Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The family will meet with friends at the
funeral home from 7 to 8 P.M. Friday. The burial will be in the Seneca
City Cemetery.
