L. Claas
Lily Louise Claas, 87, of Seneca, passed away on Mother’s Day,
May 14, 2006 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Seneca.
She was born on August 4, 1918 in Humbolt, NE, the daughter of Fred
and Ruby Luginbill. She was a twin and the fifth of nine children. She
attended the rural Eagle Star School in the Bern, KS community.
Lily married John Louis Claas in Tracey, CA.
She was a civilian employee at Fort Riley, KS. She served as a Nurses’
Aid at St. Mary’s Hospital in Manhattan, KS and at the Nemaha
Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She served as an aid at the Nemaha
County Care Home southwest of Seneca and at Country View Estates Nursing
Home in Seneca. She was a domestic care giver in her Seneca home for
many years. Care giving was her life’s work and her affection
for people especially her family was evident to all whose lives she
touched.
Preceding her in death was her husband Louis
in 1991; a son, John, in 1962 due to a car accident; a daughter, Darlene,
at birth; and her brothers William, Harold, Fritz, George, Allen and
twin Lyle.
Survivors include three cherished sons Bill,
Bob and wife Pat, and Jerry and wife Shirley, all of Seneca; seven grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Zella Boeding and Eva
Krotzinger, both of Seneca.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish,
St Ann’s Alter Society, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary
in Seneca. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards, and putting
together puzzles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am
Thursday, May 18, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca; she will
be buried at the church cemetery. Rosaries will be recited Wednesday
at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorial contributions can be given for
a beneficiary to be named later, and sent in care of the family or Lauer
Funeral Home.
